Wow, love your website!  I have never had buckwheat before and am wondering what food it is similar in taste to.  I think I would like it and the benefits are great.  I am always low in potassium due to a prescription I take, so this would just be an extra benefit over weight loss.  I also like the idea that it is good for the brain 🙂  Not that I am old, but I could use a memory boost sometimes!  I am going to try this diet to lose 7 to 10 pounds in 2 weeks.  Worth a try!

And if you consume a lot it will be converted to body fat. My wife is struggling to lose weight. I think this superfood could be of help to her. I like also the fact that it can help prevent diseases. Although you said you can eat even a lot, why do you need to take a break after 2 weeks?

    • Daniel

Because your body need to take a break after this diet. When you start with buckwheat diet, you will eject some food from your menu and that will be a shock for the body.

Great post and good info for those who need it!

Buckwheat is known to be a very easy thing to lose weight, you can eat a lot of it and it has no problems with it.

Of course, exercising and being a healthy person helps a lot more, than if you would do this and be a very lazy person, or having a very bad healthy life.

My brother was that person, he eat so healthy, but drinking beer doesn’t help it.

Buckwheat doesn’t actually have wheat in it, correct? Is it suitable for those avoiding gluten?

This actually looks really interesting. I like buckwheat and my dad makes buckwheat pancakes for my kids when we visit him. On the buckwheat diet, are you only eating buckwheat and a few other things?

Can you get digestive issues from eating it too much?

Sorry for all the questions! I’m curious how this all works! 🙂

No problem Christina! Although it contain wheat in the name, buckwheat is not a wheat and it is gluten free which means that you can consume it without having any digestive problems.

While on this diet, you should use only what I mentioned in the article and that is buckwheat, yogurt, coffee, tea (without sugar). fruits, and also very important, water, at least 2 liters a day.

It is restrictive diet but I think that it is worth it as you will cleanse your body out of toxins and accumulated calories.

  • Michel

This is the first time that I have read about using buckwheat for diet purposes. I haven’t tried it before and would love to know how it tastes. I need something to be palatable, or I know I won’t eat it on a regular basis.

I was thinking that it may be a good idea to swap morning sugary cereals with the buckwheat prepared as you have described in the video. Reading all the health benefits that it has, why not.

I will be going in search of my first bag tomorrow.

  • Evald

    Hello there Daniel,

I won’t lie- going into this article I didn’t know what buckwheat is, let alone what it is good for, haha!

I learned a lot of new things today. As far as buckwheat goes, well I have to say- I am very impressed by it, it definitely caught my attention and I’m seriously thinking about implementing it into my daily diet.

The benefits of buckwheat which stood out for me the most and which I found to be most valuable in my case are it being a rich source of easily digestible proteins (as I workout a lot I need a lot of protein), and the fact that it helps to regulate & maintain a healthy blood pressure (which can get pretty high especially during stressful and anxious days for me).

Also, its ability to keep sugar level under the control is very nice addition as well! ( I have a sweet tooth so my intake of sugar is pretty high) Thanks for the article Daniel, keep up the good work!

    • Daniel

Hi Evald, that is true. Buckwheat is a great source of quality proteins and it is often used as a protein meal after the training so it is highly recommended to use it while building muscle mass, our body absorb it very fast.
